I started at The Center for Neuro Recovery in January 2017. Although many years after my accident, I found the equipment and staff very helpful towards my continued recovery. I am a Paralympic Dressage Equestrian. As a result, exercise and remaining in good shape is an important part of my daily routine. I used to ride and train in the morning, and then go to The Center for Neuro-recovery in the afternoon. It was a really good work out, and both of my PT’s said that they could see a definite difference when I had been working out strength wise. At the facility I was able to use such equipment as the Lokomat which taught me how to move properly. I then could practice my proper movement on the AlterG. The Lokomat was next to the AlterG, so I would make sure that I was doing the correct movement while walking myself. I have found a studio to continue on the Lokomat a couple times per week while back in Canada. I also walk the track at the gym. It has a mirror, so I can watch my movement to make sure that it’s correct. I learned what my proper movement should look like at The Center for Neuro-recovery in Florida and regained a tremendous amount of strength and independence.
